1Who this policy is for
This policy applies to parents and guardians who enquire about lessons for a child, to adult learners who enquire for themselves, and to anyone who visits this website. It explains how we handle personal data under Law No. 13 of 2016 on Personal Data Privacy Protection, and under the rules on customer information in Decree-Law No. 16 of 2010 on Electronic Commerce and Transactions.
2Who is responsible for your data
Edunest decides why and how your personal data is processed, which makes Edunest the controller of that data. You can reach us through the routes below. Registration details of the business behind the Edunest brand are provided on request.
3What we collect
Through the enquiry form:
- the name of the parent, guardian or adult learner;
- an email address and a phone or WhatsApp number;
- the learner’s first name, year group or grade, curriculum, exam board and subjects;
- the language preferred for lessons, and the days and times that suit you;
- anything you choose to write in the message box.
When lessons go ahead: the lesson agreement, lesson dates and times, the tutor’s progress notes, invoices and payment records, and the messages needed to run the lessons.
When you use the website: the page you arrived on, the link or campaign that brought you (for example campaign tags in the page address), the language of the page, basic device and browser details, and your IP address, which we use to keep the site secure and to block spam.
Please share information about a learner’s health, special educational needs or other sensitive matters only when it helps the tutor teach well. The law treats health data as personal data of a special nature, and we protect it with the same care as children’s data.
4Why we use it
- to answer your enquiry and suggest a suitable tutor;
- to arrange, run and follow up lessons, including progress notes;
- to prepare the lesson agreement and invoices, and keep the records the law requires;
- to deal with questions, complaints and requests about your data;
- to keep the website and our systems secure;
- to understand which pages help visitors, using the website data described under “Cookies and website data”;
- to send news about our lessons, only if you have agreed to receive it.
We use your personal data for these purposes only.
5Consent and lawful processing
We process personal data with your consent, which you give when you send the enquiry form, or where the processing is necessary for a lawful purpose, such as preparing and carrying out the lesson agreement you ask for, or keeping records the law requires.
You may withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawal applies from that moment and does not affect processing that took place before it. After consent is withdrawn, we may be unable to arrange lessons.
6Children’s data
Many of our learners are under 18. For any learner under 18, the enquiry must come from a parent or legal guardian, and we ask for that parent’s or guardian’s explicit consent before we process the child’s data.
Law No. 13 of 2016 treats data relating to children as personal data of a special nature. We therefore collect only what the tutor needs in order to teach: a first name, the year group, the curriculum, the exam board and the subjects. A child’s lessons never depend on sharing more than that.
A parent or guardian may at any time ask for a description of the child’s data and a copy of it, and may ask us to delete it or to stop processing it.
We do not ask children to send us personal data themselves. If we learn that a child has done so without a guardian’s consent, we delete it.
8Processing and storage outside Qatar
Our website, database and email run on servers outside Qatar, and some tutors teach from outside Qatar. Your personal data is therefore transferred to, stored in and accessed from other countries.
Article 15 of Law No. 13 of 2016 allows personal data to flow across borders, provided the processing complies with the law and does not risk serious damage to you or to your data. Transferred data receives the same protection described in this policy: access limited to those who need it, encrypted connections, and written obligations on our providers.
9How long we keep it
We keep personal data only for as long as its purpose requires. Enquiry details that do not lead to lessons are deleted once we no longer need them to answer you. Lesson records and invoices are kept while the lesson agreement runs, and afterwards for as long as the law requires. Data that is no longer needed is deleted or made anonymous.
10How we protect it
We use encrypted connections for the website and the enquiry form, give access to personal data only to the people who need it for their work, and check how our providers protect the data they process for us. Tutors receive only the data needed for their own lessons.
11Your rights
- Access
- Ask what personal data we hold about you or your child, and receive a copy.
- Correction
- Ask us to correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Deletion
- Ask us to delete your data, or your child’s data.
- Withdrawal of consent
- Withdraw your consent at any time.
- Objection
- Object to processing, including any use for marketing.
- Complaint
- Complain to us, and to the competent authority for personal data protection in Qatar.
To use any of these rights, contact us through the enquiry form or the routes listed under “Who is responsible for your data”. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, so that data reaches only the person it belongs to.
12If a data breach happens
If a breach of our security measures may cause serious damage to you or to your data, we tell you and the competent authority. We aim to do so within 72 hours of learning of it, and we explain what happened, which data was involved and what we are doing about it.
13Marketing messages
We send news or offers by email, SMS or WhatsApp only if you have agreed beforehand. Each message says it comes from Edunest, says that it is marketing, and gives you a simple way to stop further messages.
15Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we publish the new version on this page with its date. If a change affects how we use data you have already given us, we tell you before it takes effect.
