Grade 12 Physics tutoring for the Qatari secondary certificate
Edunest matches Grade 12 students in Qatar's national curriculum with a physics tutor for live online lessons, one tutor with one learner. It serves government schools and private schools that follow the ministry's curriculum. Lessons follow the six Grade 12 physics topics and plan back from the December and June exams, weighted 40% and 60%.
A person reads every enquiry and matches a tutor who knows the ministry's Grade 12 standards, teaches in Arabic or English, and works around the Sunday to Thursday school week.
What we cover
What Grade 12 Physics covers
The ministry's science standards set six physics topics for Grade 12, taught in the order below, plus the maths and measurement skills that run through all of them.
Gravitation and circular motion
Angular displacement in radians, angular velocity and centripetal acceleration lead into Newton's law of gravitation, gravitational potential and satellite orbits. Many students lose marks by drawing centripetal force as an extra force.
Angular velocity
Gravitational field and potential
Geostationary orbits
Oscillations and advanced wave properties
Simple harmonic motion through its equations and graphs, the exchange of kinetic and potential energy, damping, forced oscillation and resonance. Phase difference and reading one graph from another cause most slips.
Simple harmonic motion
Energy in oscillations
Damping and resonance
Electric field and potential
Uniform fields between parallel plates, charged particles moving through them, Coulomb's law and the potential around point charges. Students often confuse field with potential, or forget that 1 eV equals 1.6 x 10^-19 J.
E = V/d
Coulomb's law
The electronvolt
Electric and gravitational fields compared
Behaviour of fluids and gases
The continuity equation and Bernoulli's principle describe moving fluids; the gas laws, PV = nRT and the kinetic model describe gases and absolute zero. A temperature left in Celsius is the classic lost mark.
Bernoulli's principle
The ideal gas equation
Kinetic model of gases
Fundamentals of thermodynamics
Heat, work and internal energy meet in the first law, written ΔU = Q + W, where W is the work done on the gas. The second law then sets a limit on the efficiency of any heat engine.
First law
W = -pΔV
Kelvin-Planck statement
Heat engine efficiency
Quantum physics
Photons and the photoelectric equation hf = Ek(max) + Φ, the Bohr model and line spectra, Millikan's evidence for quantised charge, X-rays and the de Broglie wavelength. Intensity and frequency are easily confused.
Photoelectric effect
Energy levels and spectra
X-rays in medicine
Wave-particle duality
All topics
Maths, graphs and measurement
Across every topic, students take gradients, areas under curves and intercepts from graphs, and report results with sensible significant figures and uncertainty. Missing units and rounded working lose marks quietly.
Gradient and area under a graph
Significant figures
Uncertainty
Each school sets its own pace and decides which units fall in each semester, so the tutor works from your school's plan and your child's recent tests.
How lessons run
How online physics lessons run
Lessons are arranged around the Qatari week, with school from Sunday to Thursday and the weekend on Friday and Saturday, and every time is given in Qatar time (UTC+3).
Step 1
Start from the school's material
The tutor asks for the textbook unit in progress, recent class tests and the school's semester plan, then sets a short diagnostic problem set to see exactly where your child's reasoning slips.
Step 2
Plan back from the exam dates
Together you map the weeks left before the December and June exams. Because June counts for 60% of the result, the plan protects time for second-semester topics as well as first-semester repair.
Step 3
One idea, fully worked
Each lesson takes one concept, such as resonance or the photoelectric effect, draws it, derives it where the standards ask for a derivation, and works problems of rising difficulty in Arabic or English.
Step 4
Practise the way the exam asks
Your child answers objective questions against the clock and writes full solutions to longer questions, since written answers are marked by hand. The tutor marks each attempt and names the step that failed.
Step 5
Short notes for the family
After lessons, the family receives short progress notes on topics covered and next steps. A parent may sit in on any lesson, and messages between lessons go through WhatsApp.
In Ramadan, lesson hours shift with the working hours the state publishes for that year, so revision for the June papers keeps its rhythm.
The exam
How the secondary certificate examines physics
Every Grade 12 student in Qatar sits the same standardised achievement tests. The ministry's Student Evaluation Department prepares them, and its Science Subjects Evaluation Section writes and marks the physics exams.

MOEHE, Student Evaluation Department
Prepares the General Secondary Certificate exams, supervises the marking and issues the certificates for Grade 12 students across Qatar.
Semester 1 final exam
Weighting
40% of the overall result
The first-semester part of the course, sat in December before National Day.
How a tutor helps
The tutor turns the school's semester plan into a revision calendar, so the December exam gets steady practice from October onwards while new topics keep moving in class.
Semester 2 final exam
Weighting
60% of the overall result
Sat in June, with exam days alternating with rest days for certificate students.
How a tutor helps
The rest day before physics becomes a planned final review. The tutor keeps the last lesson for your child's own recurring mistakes, formula recall and timing on a full practice paper.
Second round, August
A later sitting for resits, and for students who passed but want to raise a subject's mark.
How a tutor helps
For grade improvement the exam covers both semesters and the new mark is the one that counts, so the tutor plans full-course revision across the summer.
Grade 12 exam windows, 2026-2027
These windows come from the ministry's official school calendar for 2026-2027. The subject-by-subject timetable is published separately by the ministry, so the tutor updates the plan once it appears.
Semester 1 final exams
6 to 15 December 2026
Semester 1 make-up exams
17 to 26 January 2027
Semester 2 final exams
1 to 17 June 2027
Second-round exams
22 to 26 August 2027
Grading
The certificate reports an overall percentage. The first semester counts for 40% and the second for 60%, so June carries the larger share. Universities publish their own entry requirements.
Worth knowing
Objective questions are marked electronically; written answers are marked by hand by experienced teachers, then reviewed at several levels.
Exam questions are built from tables of specifications prepared by the ministry.
Each student sits the exam set for their own approved track.
Results and certificates are issued through the ministry's Maarif portal.
What we look for in a tutor
Standards for every Grade 12 Physics tutor
Each tutor matched to this programme meets these standards.
Physics depth
Subject knowledge well beyond Grade 12, so questions about orbits, entropy or photons get a confident and correct answer.
Knows the ministry's standards
Familiar with the Grade 12 physics standards, their teaching order and the Arabic terms of the course, so lessons match what happens in class.
Certificate exam experience
Has prepared students for objective and written physics questions and understands how the 40% and 60% semester weighting shapes a year.
Clear explanation
Explains with diagrams and worked examples, checks understanding through questions, and adjusts the pace to each learner.
Safeguarding
Follows safeguarding practice for children in every online lesson, and parents are welcome to sit in at any time.
Regular contact with parents
Writes to the family after lessons and flags any unit that needs extra time while the December or June finals are still weeks away.
Common difficulties
Where Grade 12 physics students struggle, and what a tutor does
Six sticking points that come up often in this course.
The signs in thermodynamics keep flipping.
The course writes the first law with W as work done on the gas; older notes often use work done by it.
How a tutor helps
The tutor fixes one convention, ΔU = Q + W, and drills expansion and compression cases until the sign of W comes from the physics every time.
The oscillation graphs all look the same.
Displacement, velocity and acceleration curves in simple harmonic motion differ by phase, and energy graphs add another layer.
How a tutor helps
Your child sketches the three curves on one time axis, then reads phase, maximum speed and energy points from them in short timed exercises.
Electric potential feels abstract.
Field is a vector and potential is a scalar, and students mix up their equations and their signs.
How a tutor helps
The tutor builds electric potential from gravitational potential, which your child has just met, compares the two fields side by side, and practises energy changes in electronvolts and joules.
Brighter light should mean faster electrons.
Everyday experience links brightness with energy, while in the photoelectric effect the photon's frequency sets the energy.
How a tutor helps
Using hf = Ek(max) + Φ, the tutor separates what intensity changes, the number of electrons, from what frequency changes, their maximum energy, with data tables like exam questions.
Arabic at school, English at home.
Families who switch languages meet two sets of words for the same idea, and answers start to mix them.
How a tutor helps
The tutor teaches in the language you choose and keeps a two-language glossary of the course terms, so written answers use the words your child's school uses.
Losing marks on long answers.
Written answers are marked by hand, and skipped steps or missing units leave little for the marker to credit.
How a tutor helps
Every practice solution is set out line by line: the equation, the substitution, the answer with its unit, and a quick check that the size makes sense.
